Cersaie 2022: design trends in the name of sustainability

28/10/2022Category : Events

The 39th edition of Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramics for architecture and bathroom furnishings, has come to an end. With 624 participating companies and more than 91,000 registered visitors, half of whom arriving from abroad, the event has almost returned to its pre-pandemic glory. The program of events and talks was also dense and very attended, with guests from the world of architecture and design and conversations on the hottest topics in the sector, among which nature, the sustainability of architectural interventions and the renewed love for colors.

Tosilab at Cersaie: the Creativity square

The Tosilab stand at Cersaie 2022 welcomed visitors with a particularly creative and colorful setting, in its interpretation of the Creativity Square. The inspiration came from neoclassical art and from the observation of nature which, reinterpreted with a more modern influence, has given life to small works of art on every wall of the buildings that ideally overlook the square.

A particularly heartfelt and significant moment was the decoration of the main wall of the stand by the Tosilab team, with the key words that characterize the design at the moment: new luxury, lightness, revolution, classic, sustainability, nature. Just like in the Greek meaning of the term agora, this square was a meeting place in which to converse and discuss current events and therefore the design trends that are marking this 2022 recovery.

Sustainability protagonist at Cersaie 2022

“The commitment to the sustainability of Italian ceramics was the leitmotif of the whole event,” says Giovanni Savorani, President of Confindustria Ceramica. And indeed, by touring the various stands of the fair, sustainability in all its meanings continues to return in the form of installations dedicated or inspired by nature, but also with more committed discussions on the new possibilities in terms of energy and raw materials. Companies that produce ceramics are increasingly introducing alternative energy sources for their production lines, such as electricity or hydrogen, to operate in respect of the environment and enter the phenomenon that is more widely called ecological transition.

The colors of 2022: when nature sets the trend.

If sustainability is an important issue dear to the entire sector, nature therefore becomes the inspiring muse for designers. Here, then, the patterns of natural inspiration explode, with rounded shapes and warm colors stolen from wood and earth. The jungle style is rampant: flowers and plants take hold of every room in the house, with refinement and character, and the surfaces create an effect of continuity with floral patterns. Raw and natural materials do not fail to refine the space: a particular goes to natural stone, recurring and always appreciated. The final effect must be rustic, safe, welcoming, played between neutral and brighter shades, to make your heart and soul feel at home.
